About Us

Once an individual begins to practice embodiment of ĀMA they begin to practice anchoring the Matriarchal line, the left leg oriented by the right side of the brain. This left leg holds a pou, an anchor in KYOKUSHIN full contact engagement in Kata Form and Full contact fighting. Grounded and unable to be uplifted.

Then the right leg run by the left side of the brain begins to learn the anchor the pou of the teachings in Tae Kwon Do. Competition of the ideals of the 'win' or desire to compete. Lightly placed and easily uplifted by choice.

The centre is held by Āio which pertains to Tū Taua, Māori Weaponry and Native Sight teachings particular to Native Sight institution. It is about an embodiment of a lifestyle that exists via the practice being lived. It is how you treat your family and friends and further your people land and elements.

ĀMA - ORIGINS

ĀMA or Āio Mixed Martial Arts is a particular embodiment frame that cultivates a lifestyle to support individuals in their day to day lives. Our distinctive methodology integrates martial arts principles with native development, fostering, resilience, and self-assurance.

The fundamentals align to the position of AOTEAROA's particular location.

PANGO - The puna or spring of your origin.

KOKOWAI - The blood vessels

PUKEPOTO - The veins

TAIOMA - The clay or ritual clay of white

These shades are the fundamental foundations of embodiment for AMMA.

PUNA

ĀMA isn't for everyone. Our intention is not for the medals the trophies, rather our stance is the distinction of effecting and making impact in spaces where sacred practices may have been forgotten.

ĀMA is about becoming stronger throug consistent effort. It is not about ego, but deep humility to life. Its not about looking the part, it is about earning it and being its example.

Every class is a chance to improve. Every challenge becomes something you carry and listen to. It coaches you.
