WHO WE ARE
Te Whānau Āio are the kaitiaki (guardians) who hold the Maori Cultural experiences at the Auckland Museum.
The group span across 14 different iwi (tribes) from within New Zealand. As direct guardians of their family ancestries their collective duty is to share their grandparents stories to better educate the world, away from the stereotypes of 'rugby haka' or 'simply a ball on the end of a string' requirements projected onto Māori.
The group consist of professionals who are masters in their form who have travelled the globe as experts, judges, dancers, cultural educators, lecturers, professional singers, spiritual tutors, indigenous spokesmen, language facilitators and much more.

Kia Maumahara - A moment in time, allows audiences a moment in time past to experience the stories of Māori culture as they navigate through the difficulties of the pressing modern world.
